Denys Farm Frilford – Oxfordshire

This kitchen was for a newly built £5m + house

Our client wanted the kitchen to be the main focus of the house. This was a huge room, which called for a versatile design approach.

With the expansive central window being such a dominant feature, we decided symmetry was not the solution; it would have been too predictable and also, we felt, too overpowering placing multiple tall units either side of the window. Furthermore storage was definitely not an issue here as there was a large utility room adjacent to the kitchen.

Therefore we decided on a super-sized Island wrapped in Corian worktops which provided a seamless (no joins) work top area.  We then sectioned in a giant breakfast bar in quartz with a single quartz support leg fully mitred to give the appearance of a single piece. We had to add strength beneath the worktop as it was nearly 3m of un-supported breakfast bar but the effect is stunning.

In amongst the pictures below you can see how we designed the entire kitchen on our CAD system initially and how the finished kitchen matched the design exactly.
